29 Ukrainian Children Rescued from Occupied Territories
Last week, the Save Ukraine team successfully rescued 29 Ukrainian children from Russian-occupied territories. This rescue mission was made possible thanks to the support of our partners united under the Bring Kids Back UA initiative. Over the past three years, all of these children have endured pressure, coercion, and forced exposure to Russian propaganda.
🔹 14-year-old Yulia and 9-year-old Yeva were left orphaned under occupation after their mother suddenly passed away. Their relatives tried to gain custody, but the occupying authorities deliberately delayed the process to transfer the sisters into a state-run orphanage. Luckily, their adult sister Tamila reached out to Save Ukraine — and with our help, she managed to evacuate the girls to safety.
🔹 9-year-old Yaryna and 13-year-old Makar were forced to live under the full weight of Russia’s indoctrination machine: daily singing of the Russian anthem, weekly “conversations about what matters,” and drawing letters and pictures for Russian soldiers on every state holiday. Armed soldiers would regularly visit their classroom to show off weapons and drones. The family had no choice — refusing to comply meant risking their children being taken away. Eventually, they were humiliated anyway: when their parents were forcibly issued Russian passports, they were made to read the oath on camera.
🔹 17-year-old Davyd’s family are practicing Christians. Despite the occupation, his father continued gathering the faith community at home, preaching and leading communion. Davyd and his younger sister were forced to attend a Russian school, where children were made to participate in military training games like “Zarnitsa.” When their mother refused to send them, she was summoned to a school meeting and publicly shamed. The final straw? Davyd was registered for military service — despite having serious heart problems. Thankfully, all of these families made it to freedom.
Today, these children are undergoing rehabilitation in Save Ukraine’s recovery centers, receiving assistance with documentation, psychological care, and basic humanitarian aid.
Thanks to your support, more than 850 children have already been rescued and are now building their future in a free country — and we will not stop.
🙏 We’re deeply grateful to our partners WeAreAllUkrainians2022, Humanity NK, and the Joint Center for the Coordination of the Search and Release of Prisoners of War and Civilians. Together, we are not only rescuing children — we are restoring their childhood, peace, and hope.
