17 children & teenagers rescued from occupation
The Save Ukraine team has successfully rescued 17 Ukrainian children and teenagers from temporarily occupied territory. This mission was made possible through the support of partners united under the Bring Kids Back UA initiative, including WeAreAllUkrainians. Each story is a stark reminder of how occupiers shatter childhoods through intimidation, coercion, and propaganda.
🔹 When Matvii was just 17, Russian soldiers burst into his home at dawn and dragged him away at gunpoint for a grueling, multi-hour interrogation—without his parents or any legal guardians present. They threatened and psychologically pressured him to break his pro-Ukrainian stance.
🔹 Fifteen-year-old Eldar and his 13-year-old sister Alisa miraculously survived when a cluster munition struck their house, setting the roof ablaze. For nearly three years, the siblings managed to avoid attending Russian schools, but this summer, the occupying authorities issued an ultimatum to their parents: either enroll the children in the Russian curriculum, or the entire family must leave.
🔹 The occupiers also pressured 16-year-old Nastya to attend a Russian school, threatening to “take her away” from her parents if they refused. Her mother faced repeated fines and even warnings of being thrown into a “basement” cell if the family didn’t obtain Russian documents. In the end, she made the tough call to evacuate—and thanks to our team, Nastya is now safe.
Today, all the rescued children and their families are out of harm’s way. At our Hope and Healing centers, they’re receiving psychological support, help with documentation, and a fresh start in rebuilding their lives.
🙏 A heartfelt thank you to our partners WeAreAllUkrainians, the Humanity Foundation, and the United Center for Coordinating the Search and Release of Prisoners of War and Illegally Detained Persons. Together, we’re not just saving lives—we’re restoring childhoods and reigniting faith in the future.
*Names of the children have been changed for their safety.
