How Hope and Healing Centers Bring Hope Alive

Millions of Ukrainian children have been displaced and traumatized by war. Countless families have lost their homes and livelihoods, they have been ripped apart and many children have been abducted to Russia. In response to these profound tragedies, Save Ukraine has established Hope and Healing Centers.

These centers offer safety and refuge for children we rescue from Russia, along with families evacuated from frontline combat zones. Here, they receive comprehensive support, including temporary housing, humanitarian aid, legal assistance, medical check-ups, educational support, and psychological rehabilitation. Each family is given a program tailored to their needs, to help restore safety and stability, recover from the trauma of war, and reintegrate into family and community.

And Front-line Families to Safe Communities in Ukraine

Hope and Healing Centers Play a Critical Role in Reuniting Families and Healing Trauma
01.

01. Search and Identification

Data to identify abducted children is gathered from various sources, including families and relatives, Ukrainian ministries, schools, orphanages and European authorities. Save Ukraine’s 24/7 hotline receives calls directly from children and families needing to be rescued from front-line communities as well.

02. Preparation for Return

These are sensitive operations that require careful preparation. Staff from the Hope and Healing Center support families of abducted Ukrainian children with document preparation and provide legal and psychological support to each guardian before the journey to retrieve their child.
03.

03. Arrival and Assessment

When children and families arrive from being rescued by Save Ukraine, each receive a standard humanitarian aid package to meet their basic needs. They undergo a registration and assessment process to determine specific needs that are incorporated into an individualized recovery and support plan.
04.

04. Recovery

Hope and Healing Centers aid in the psychological and physical recovery of children who were abducted by Russia and returned to their family by Save Ukraine, along with children and families from frontline communities. Through specialized services and 3-6 months of safe shelter, we aim to see families focus on healing.
05.

05. Reintegration

Hope and Healing Centers support children as they reintegrate into their family, peer groups, and society. They also help families achieve independence, with step-by-step support including financial assessments, social readiness, job search, and long-term housing.
